prescription amount to add

We are an orthodontic office and basically prescribe only toothpaste which needs to be dispensed at "a pea-sized" amount. We would like to add this to the quantity to use amount (we currently use "drop" but then the pharmacy calls us for clarification since toothpaste cannot be dispensed as a "drop." Is there any way this could be added as an option for us to use? Thank you. Judy Duff, Office Manager, i smile orthodontics, PC

Note that "drop" might be an appropriate Dose for the prescription. The Dispense quantity for a tube of toothpaste might be 1 tube of 100 mL. Remember that the Dispense Quantity (at the right) represents the total amount the pharmacy provides to the patient, whereas the Dosage (at the left) represents the amount used each time. e.g. Sig: Apply 1 drop to the teeth twice daily. Dispense: 100 mL
